You may have seen in <\/span>the news today<\/a> that WWF Scotland are calling on the Scottish Government to provide greater leadership and support to Scotland\u2019s farmers to help them adapt to the challenges of a rapidly changing climate.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This comes as the <\/span>Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Special Report on Global Warming<\/a> called for \u2018game-changing\u2019 action on greenhouse gas emissions if the world is to keep warming below the Paris Agreement earlier this year. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span>A Scottish Government spokesperson said:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span>“Our farmers and land managers play a key role in helping to meet our climate change ambitions. Our Climate Change plan includes a range of measures to promote the benefits of low carbon farming and it\u2019s also important to recognise that farmers do a lot to reduce emissions in other sectors such as energy supply, for example by installing wind turbines on their farms. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“We continue to engage with the industry to ensure that appropriate support is provided during challenging times. This includes offering support to our farming communities through the early payment of loans, securing derogations from European rules, and supporting the work of the Agricultural Weather Advisory Panel<\/a> and Farm Advisory Service<\/a>.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
