South of Scotland Enterprise debate<\/h3>\n

Rural Economy Secretary Fergus Ewing led the debate in parliament,\u00a0the aim of which was\u00a0to agree to the general principles of the South of Scotland Enterprise Bill.<\/p>\n

South of Scotland Enterprise has been established to take a fresh approach to the enterprise and skills needs of the South and drive inclusive growth in the region.<\/p>\n

“With farming and food production being the cornerstone of our rural economy, I am pleased to note that farm incomes have increased to a six year high”, said Rural Economy Secretary Fergus Ewing.<\/p>\n

Keep Scotland Beautiful<\/h3>\n

Environment Secretary Roseanna Cunningham launched the Keep Scotland Beautiful National Spring Clean, highlighting the Scottish Government\u2019s work on the Circular Economy, single-use plastics and tackling litter and reinforcing our commitment to ensuring a clean and healthy environment for Scottish communities.<\/span><\/p>\n

Eagle tagging<\/h3>\n

New tagging technology for Golden Eagles will give an ‘instant fix’ on the birds when they die. This is potentially a big breakthrough in fighting and preventing raptor persecution.<\/p>\n

Environment Secretary Roseanna Cunningham said:<\/p>\n

“The tags should make a real difference in deterring would-be criminals, as well as playing a key role in establishing exactly what happened, should any of these magnificent birds of prey disappear or die in unusual circumstances.”<\/p>\n
