Priorities for 2019<\/h3>\n

Finance and Economy Secretary Derek Mackay has set out his priorities for 2019 in an article in The Herald.<\/p>\n

Improving ferry access<\/h3>\n

Further accessibility improvements will be made on Scotland\u2019s ferries following the fourth round of awards from the Ferries Accessibility Fund.<\/p>\n

Almost \u00a380,000 is being awarded to Serco NorthLink Ferries and the National Autistic Society for plans that include the provision of Changing Places facilities on board vessels, as well as specialist equipment and staff training to help autistic passengers.<\/p>\n

It will also see the creation of an app outlining the specialist assistance available to passengers at each of the terminals on the Northern Isles ferry network.<\/p>\n

Remedial Plan notice issued to ScotRail<\/h3>\n

ScotRail has been issued a remedial plan notice due to performance issues.<\/p>\n

ScotRail now has eight weeks to submit a remedial plan and have given their assurances efforts are being made to improve performance before many passengers return to work after the festive period.<\/p>\n

Strategic Transport Projects review update<\/h3>\n

Work to shape the future of Scotland Transport infrastructure investment has taken an step forward.<\/p>\n

A contract to support the second Strategic Transports Projects Review (STPR2) has been awarded to a combined team of Jacobs and Aecom. Subject to the mandatory standstill period, they will be appointed to begin their commission in the New Year.<\/p>\n

This is the second strategic review \u2013 the first was published in 2008. The new review will consider future investment in all transport modes including the strategic road and rail networks as well as active travel, island connectivity, ferries and buses.<\/p>\n
