Flexible Workforce Development Fund<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a>Business, Fair Work and Skills Minister Jamie Hepburn launched the third year of the Flexible Workforce Development Fund.<\/p>\n

The Flexible Workforce Development Fund provides employers with an opportunity to access \u00a315,000 worth of funding to create bespoke and tailored training opportunities to help address skills gaps within their organisation \u2013 delivered by Scotland\u2019s college sector. This approach offers value for money for both the employers and for the people of Scotland.<\/p>\n

Wheatley Group<\/h3>\n

Economy Secretary Derek Mackay launched the Wheatley Group’s mid-market housing development in Glasgow.<\/p>\n

The development is being built with \u00a32 million of support from the Scottish Government. Economy Secretary Derek Mackay said:<\/p>\n

\u201cA house provides more than just somewhere to live \u2013 it offers a sense of pride and belonging, and enables \"\"<\/a>independence and confidence. I am delighted to see the difference these high quality, new homes are already making to people and the positive impact this development will have on the wider community, bringing together elements of the old and new to create a vibrant and unique space.<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone deserves a safe, warm, affordable place to live. That is why the Scottish Government is\u00a0investing a record \u00a33 billion to achieve our ambitious target of 50,000 affordable homes by 2021, of which 35,000 will be for social rent. Successful developments like this keep us on track in achieving that target.\u201d<\/p>\n

Scottish income tax revenues grew by 1.8% in 2017-18<\/h3>\n

Statistics show tax choices are delivering a more progressive tax system.<\/p>\n

Official statistics published by HMRC this week showed that income tax revenues grew by 1.8%, to \u00a310.9 billion in 2017-18, with growth driven primarily by an increase in contributions from higher and additional rate taxpayers – those earning above \u00a343,000 in Scotland in 2017-18. The figures also showed that combined number of higher and additional rate taxpayers in Scotland is growing at a faster rate than the rest of the UK, according to new figures.<\/p>\n

Finance Secretary Derek Mackay said:<\/p>\n

\u201cThese statistics show that the Scottish Government\u2019s choices on taxation are helping to create a more progressive tax system at the same time as our economy is growing with low unemployment.\u201d<\/p>\n

‘No Deal’ warning<\/h3>\n

This week the Office of Budget Responsibility warned that a \u2018No Deal\u2019 UK EU Exit could lead to a UK recession. Finance Secretary Derek Mackay said the warning confirms what the Scottish Government have been saying for months – that a no deal Brexit has the potential to push the economy into recession, impacting business investment and household incomes.<\/p>\n
