Commenting on the latest Scottish Chambers of Commerce Quarterly Economic Indicator, Economy Secretary Derek Mackay said:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s clear from this latest report that Brexit uncertainty, and in particular the threat of \u2018no deal\u2019, is having an increasingly negative impact on business confidence.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a responsible government, our enterprise and skills agencies continue to work with partners, including Business Gateway, to deliver the Prepare for Brexit campaign – an online portal where businesses can access a self-assessment tool, expert advice, and information on events, workshops and financial support. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe also have a range of policies in place to support households and businesses, while our \u2018no deal\u2019 Brexit preparations published this week set out the actions we are taking to mitigate the ongoing uncertainty and worst impacts of a \u2018no deal\u2019 Brexit.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt is important, though, to be clear that there is no amount of preparation that could ever make us entirely ready for the needless and significant impact of a \u2018no deal\u2019. <\/span>In fact, t<\/span>here is no doubt that a \u2018no deal\u2019 outcome would have profound consequences for jobs, investment and living standards across Scotland. To even countenance \u2018no deal\u2019 is illogical and economically illiterate. The UK Government should do the responsible thing and rule it out now.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
