{"id":4336,"date":"2019-11-08T16:39:40","date_gmt":"2019-11-08T16:39:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.gov.scot\/scotlands-economy\/?p=4336"},"modified":"2019-11-08T16:39:40","modified_gmt":"2019-11-08T16:39:40","slug":"ferguson-marine-apprentices","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.gov.scot\/scotlands-economy\/2019\/11\/08\/ferguson-marine-apprentices\/","title":{"rendered":"Ferguson Marine apprentices"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif\">Economy Secretary Derek Mackay has attended a special ceremony to congratulate sixteen young men and women for completing their apprenticeships at Ferguson Marine shipyard.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif\">The special event in Greenock recognised and celebrated the apprentices\u2019 contribution to work at the yard.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif\">The contract to take Ferguson Marine into public ownership was signed by the Scottish Government last week, with full completion of the contract and the final transaction to take place in the coming weeks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif\">Mr Mackay said:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif\">\u201cI am delighted to be able to celebrate the achievements of these young apprentices at the start of a bright new future for Ferguson Marine.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif\">\u201cMy aim for the past two years has been to complete the vessels, secure the workforce and develop a future for the yard. Apprentices have a huge role to play in helping to make this happen and to be part of the yard\u2019s future.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif\">\u201cWhile we continue to work with the administrators to bring the yard into public ownership, work on the vessels is progressing.
