Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit

April 24, 2017 by No Comments | Category Social Security, Uncategorized

The Scottish Government will become responsible for the Industrial Injuries Scheme Benefits currently taken care of by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). Individuals may have applied for, or been awarded these benefits for disablement because of an accident at work, or because of one of over 70 prescribed diseases known to be a risk from certain jobs. The scheme also covers people working on approved employment training schemes or courses.

We want to work with people who have recent experience of Industrial Injuries benefits currently paid out by DWP so that we can design a new social security system with – and for – the people of Scotland. These include:

  • Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit
  • Constant Attendance Allowance
  • Exceptionally Severe Disablement Allowance
  • Reduced Earnings Allowance
  • Retirement Allowance

“We know that there are a number of people in receipt of Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit, and that there are approximately 2,000 new claims per year in Scotland. If you have experience of this scheme, we hope that you will take part in this research by registering online.”

If you work with, or provide assistance to those who are in receipt of Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit – we need your help to promote the Experience Panels.

By joining, people can share experiences of benefits to help us to build a new social security system in Scotland that puts people first and makes a lasting difference to lives. Taking part is completely voluntary and people can leave at any time. Whether or not they participate in the Experience Panels it will not affect benefits.

We know that volunteering to help us is a big commitment but we want to make sure that people understand that they can choose to be as involved as they wish and for as long, or short, as they feel they can.

Get involved and join the Social Security Experience Panels

If you have experience of Industrial Injuries Benefits, we hope that you will take part in the Panels. Registration closes on 12 May 2017.
