As at December 2017 there were 547,691 acres in community ownership, which is 2.8% of the total land area of Scotland. There were 508 land parcels\/assets in community ownership owned by 388 community groups.<\/p>\n

Scotland’s Chief Statistician today published revised tables<\/a> that were first included in in the Estimate of Community Owned Land in Scotland 2017<\/a> publication, that was released in December 2017. The previous figures published in December 2017 only to covered the period until the end of June 2017.<\/p>\n

The revised tables include figures for the total area in community ownership as at December 2017, the area of land which transferred to community ownership during the whole of 2017 and revised figures for earlier years. As well as the number of land parcels\/assets in community ownership and the number of community groups that own land parcels\/assets.<\/p>\n

The revised tables were produced by combining existing Scottish Government records with the results of a Scottish Government survey of community groups believed to own land or other assets which was carried out from November 2017 to February 2018. We would like to take this opportunity to thank those community groups which responded to the survey for their contribution to improving the quality of the information held by the Scottish Government about community owned ownership.<\/p>\n
