Call for Ideas: British Irish Council – Autumn Summit in Edinburgh

We mentioned previously on our blog our team’s involvement in the work of the British Irish Council (BIC). Our team meets with colleagues from the Irish and British governments as part of the social inclusion strand of the BIC https://www.britishirishcouncil.org/work-sectors/social-inclusion which was established following the Good Friday Agreement to share knowledge and good practice. We are working with all the member administrations on producing a report on preventative spend, particularly in the context of an ageing population and Ministers will meet in Edinburgh later this year to discuss the final report findings. The Ministerial summit (still to be finalised but likely to be held in November) in Edinburgh will provide an opportunity for us to showcase ideas from this area of work from around Scotland. If you have any innovative or successful work in this arena worthy of being highlighted we would love to hear from you. Of course we may not be able to give a nod to every project that may deserve a mention – but what doesn’t get a mention for Ministers we’d love to share at official level. Please email: careforolderpeople@scotland.gsi.gov.uk with your ideas.
