Co-production – how we make a difference together
March 20, 2015 by Linda White No Comments | Category Uncategorized
Integration is nearly upon us and the challenge of delivering Scotland’s National Health and Wellbeing Outcomes will fall to all of us, in every sector at all levels, all health and social care professions and most importantly: people and communities.
The principles of co-production are evident throughout the legislation and guidance for integration. For integration to be successful in delivering better outcomes, the talents, capacities and potential of all of Scotland’s people and communities must be used in designing, commissioning, delivering and assessing our future health and social care services.
Making this shift to co-produced health and social care services is not going to happen overnight. There are a great examples of co-produced services across Scotland, particularly through Reshaping Care for Older People, but more needs to be done to build the cultures and systems which will enable co-production approaches to become the ‘norm’.
To help meet this challenge, the Joint Improvement Team, the Scottish Co-production Network and the Health and Social Care Alliance Scotland – working with Governance International – have launched a new resource: Co-production – how we make a difference together.
The resource and associated suite of materials – videos, case studies and other information – is intended to help spread understanding and practice around co-production. It gives examples of the different ways in which co-production approaches can be used, but more than this, it draws together the principles of co-production and the practicalities of working in this way.
The range of materials includes:
- An interview with the Permanent Secretary to the Scottish Government
- A policy overview of Co-production in Scotland
- Six case studies and five Digital Stories
- Introductions to the People Powered Health and Wellbeing programme and the ‘Co-production Star’
The resource will be available on the Scottish Co-production Network website – www.coproductionscotland.org.uk from early April. Follow @jitscotland to find out when the ‘Co-production – how we make a difference together’ is launched.
