Prior Information Notice (PIN) issued for Internet of Things (IoT)

We have issued a Prior Information Notice (PIN) for a potential collaborative procurement arrangement for Internet of Things (IoT) Technologies and Services. The PIN forms part of an opportunity assessment to determine the feasibility for a potential collaborative procurement arrangement. It is to provide advance notice to the market and to encourage suppliers to provide their views on the potential scope and assist in the development of the opportunity.
IoT can be viewed as a network of dedicated physical objects (things) that contain embedded technology to sense or interact with their internal state or external environment, connect and exchange data. This exchange of data can create opportunities for public bodies in terms of efficiencies and economic benefit.
If we determine there is a need for a collaborative arrangement then we expect to issue the full OJEU advert for the Internet of Things Technologies and Services in early 2019.
