On Thursday 3 March 2022, we supported the GO Scottish Public Procurement Conference. This one-day online event brought together over 300 individuals to hear from leading speakers on the challenges, initiatives and opportunities across Scotland’s public procurement marketplaces. Organisations of all sizes were welcome to attend, including SMEs, third-sector and Supported Businesses.
The conference was opened by Ivan McKee MSP, Minister for Business, Trade, Tourism and Enterprise, and Nick Ford, Director of Scottish Procurement and Property. Attendees were able choose from a range of interesting sessions covering topics like sustainability, procurement innovation and supply chain development.
Mr McKee tweeted “Pleased to have been invited to contribute to the GO Scottish Public Procurement Conference. I hope all attendees had a thought-provoking day and I look forward to seeing more of you at procurement events later this year”
Nick Ford also tweeted “Great attendance and engagement at today’s GO Scottish Public Procurement Conference. Thanks to @Ivan_McKee for contributing a keynote speech, setting out the challenges Scotland faces and how the #PowerOfProcurement can help to overcome them.”
“My thanks to all the breakout hosts, a really varied and interesting set of topics from innovation and supply chain development to sustainability, social responsibility, supported businesses and tackling climate change.”
We were proud to see many of our previous Guest Bloggers taking the ‘virtual stage’ at the event, including: CivTech Scotland; Hey Girls and BASE – the British Association for Supported Employment. Following COP26 last winter, it was also fascinating to hear about the actions of Scotland’s Climate Assembly and the recommendations on how public procurement can support the fight against climate change.
Scottish Government teams showcased the Supply Chain Development Programme and exciting work on the new ‘Scotland Innovates’ innovation portal for suppliers – launching in late April.
Upcoming national events in the public procurement diary include:
- The P4H Conference on 25 April 2022
- Meet the Buyer on 15 June 2022
- ProcureX and the National Procurement Conference on 27 October 2022
And, look out for news of the winners at The GO Awards Scotland on 19 April 2022
