Scottish Government eInvoicing

June 26, 2023 by No Comments | Category Scottish Procurement, Uncategorized

The Scottish Government has offered an eInvoicing (“electronic invoicing”) solution as part of our eCommerce Shared Service to all public sector bodies in Scotland since 2014.

Our eInvoicing solution delivers efficiencies to both public bodies and suppliers and is designed to encourage standardisation of eInvoicing processes.

At the start of 2023 we commenced a project to grow our eInvoicing solution.

We engaged with all our customers to canvass their needs and have commenced onboarding new suppliers. We’ve also increased the number of customer connections with existing suppliers according to our customer requirements.

Over recent months we have added dozens of new connections and suppliers. We are well on track to exceed 500,000 transactions for 2023! The service has come a long way since the first year in which just over 4,000 transactions were processed.

Check out our eInvoicing Guide and Case Studies

We are always looking to continually improve, if you have any suggestions for our eInvoicing process please contact scottishprocurement@gov.scot

One speaker transcript:

Since 2014 the Scottish Government has offered an eInvoicing solution to all public bodies in Scotland.

Our mission is to drive standardisation within eInvoicing processes and deliver efficiencies to both public bodies and suppliers.

In 2022 our solution had 32 customers transacting with 101 different suppliers. Between them our 32 customers had 337 supplier connections and we processed more than 475,000 invoices through our solution.

That’s a huge amount of growth since our first year when we processed just over 4000 transactions.

Around half of our suppliers are SMEs and they account for about a third of all our customer connections.

Our SME suppliers tell us our solution reduces their costs, simplifies the invoicing process and also speeds up payment.

At the start of 2023 we kicked off a project to grow our eInvoicing solution.

We will be onboarding new suppliers and also increasing the number of customer connections with existing suppliers.

Since we started this project we have onboarded 8 new suppliers with work underway on many more.

With the work we have been doing we are well on track to exceed half a million transactions for 2023.
