Meet The Buyer 2024 – less than one month to go

May 8, 2024 by No Comments | Category Meet the Buyer, Scottish Procurement, SMEs, Supplier Development Programme

With less than one month to go until Meet the Buyer National 2024, now is the perfect time to plan your visit.

Meet the Buyer National is coming to Hampden Park, Glasgow, on Wednesday 5 June 2024, and is set to bring Scotland’s public and private sectors together under one roof, for one day only.

With a fantastic range of exhibitors, including our partners Scottish Government and Scotland Excel, Meet the Buyer brings potential business prospects for every size of supplier. So, get ready to seize these opportunities, by preparing for your visit with these eight simple steps.

  1. Do your homework

Look at the buyers listed on the Meet the Buyer event page and consider who you would like to meet. Once you have a list of buyers with whom you’d like to connect, research them! Go to their websites, read their contract opportunities, their procurement reports, and check their contract registers to see if they are a good fit for your business. Supplier Development Programme’s Who Buys What in Scotland guide is a good starting point for your research.

  1. Prepare a verbal introduction of your business

Open the discussion with your company name, where your business is located, and what your business does; then explain how it can help the buyer.

  1. Prepare a list of questions for buyers

What information could you not find on the buyers’ websites? Make a note of the queries your research left unanswered and ask the buyers in person (making notes of their answers).

  1. Prepare your contact information in advance

When you connect with a buyer or another supplier on the day, you’ll want to exchange your contact information. This year, we will be utilising an app to help you exchange contact details with all your new connections.

  1. Plan your arrival

With over 2,300 attendees already registered, we anticipate Meet the Buyer 2024 to be our busiest yet! To reduce queues and waiting times, we will have a ‘Fast Track’ entry, allowing suppliers to print their passes off at home. Following event registration, you will be emailed Fast Track entry instructions, follow these to make your arrival as smooth as possible.

  1. Visit exhibitors – it’s worth the wait

On the day, join the queues at exhibition stands and gather Buyers’ leaflets and flyers, this is where you will find information on contract opportunities. While waiting to talk to exhibitors, you can visit their profile on the app and read any digital materials they have uploaded, which might also have updates on their pipeline.

  1. Connect with other suppliers

You never know, they could become your next customer!

  1. Utilise the free Supplier Development Programme (SDP) training

Once you have visited the exhibitors, networked with suppliers, and asked your questions about public sector contracts, join SDP in the keynote, for our Quick Quotes training session. You don’t have to wait until 5 June, why not brush up on your tendering skills before the event with the Supplier Development Programme’s free training! SDP offers a range of courses to suit every level – whether you are new to tendering or have years of experience. Browse SDP’s free tender training here!
