Coastal Flood Protection case study – Sustainable Procurement Tools

May 31, 2024 by No Comments | Category Procurement news, Sustainable Procurement, Sustainable Procurement Tools

The latest addition to the Sustainable Procurement Tools website is a case study from North Ayrshire Council (NAC) on their Flood Prevention Scheme for Millport coast.

This case study looks at North Ayrshire Council’s procurement for the construction of an offshore breakwater and onshore flood walls of the Millport Coastal Flood Protection Scheme.

The project will contribute to achieving NAC’s ambitious target to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2030 by enhancing flood security in a high risk coastal location to protect residents’ homes and businesses. It is also expected to generate regeneration opportunities and enhancement of tourism opportunities in Millport, as well as creating the opportunity for future marina development.

You can read more about North Ayrshire council’s approach on the Case Studies  section of the Sustainable Procurement Tools website, which can be accessed by registered and unregistered users of the Tools.
