Fair Work First eLearning Launches: Empowering a Fairer, More Diverse Workforce in Scotland
December 10, 2024 by Teigan Kelly No Comments | Category Fair Work First, Procurement news, Scottish Procurement
We’re pleased to announce the launch of the Fair Work First in Procurement eLearning, designed to help organisations across Scotland embrace Fair Work First — a Scottish Government policy aimed at promoting high-quality, fair work and workforce diversity.
This new eLearning resource complements existing guidance and forms part of a broader set of tools, including Climate Literacy, Circular Economy eLearning, and practical case studies, all available through the Sustainable Procurement Tools platform.
What’s inside the eLearning?
The eLearning is broken into three informative modules:
- Fair Work and Fair Work First – Understanding the definitions and context
- Fair Work First in Procurement – Key principles and tools
- Applying Fair Work First in Procurement – Practical tips for the procurement process
Each module can be completed independently, with the full package taking approximately two hours. Whether you’re new to the topic or looking to increase your knowledge, this is an accessible way to engage with Fair Work First.
What people are saying
We’re already receiving positive feedback from organisations:
“A very insightful and easy-to-follow piece of e-learning that will likely be very beneficial to users.” – Dumfries and Galloway Council
“I think this will fit in with courses available on the Sustainable Procurement Tools so it will be familiar to those already with knowledge. It also provides enough introduction to take people to all the guidance if new to this too..” – NatureScot
Get started now
To access the eLearning, simply register on the Sustainable Procurement Tools website. Upon completion, you’ll receive a certificate to showcase your learning.

A Spotlight on Fair Work in Action
In addition to launching the eLearning, we’re also excited to share a key case study: Dundee Health and Social Care Partnership’s Fair Work in Social Care project. This test of change initiative has transformed the way Fair Work principles are applied in the procurement of care at home services in Dundee. Read the full case study in the Case Studies section of the Sustainable Procurement Tools website.
