Central Government Procurement Shared Services (CGPSS) Celebrates One Decade of Excellence: Our 10-Year Anniversary

To mark their 10 year anniversary our Central Government Procurement Shared Services (CGPSS) team have shared some of their highlights and hard work that has gone into making the team a success.
Since April 2014, over the past decade we have grown, evolved, and continuously strived to exceed expectations. This anniversary is not just a celebration of our longevity, but a testament to the dedication of our team and the partnerships we have built along the way with our colleagues within Central Government organisations and our Scottish Government Divisions.
The CGPSS team provides access to a team of highly skilled procurement professionals who can cover skills gaps and workload peaks within Central Government organisations to deliver contracts which comply with procurement legislation. CGPSS can also support the development of procurement policy and procedures, deliver procurement training courses and provide mentoring to an organisation’s own buyers and end-users. The service design is sufficiently flexible to be tailored to each of the diverse organisations within the sector.
Over the years, we have supported 55 central government bodies, leading over 850 procurements, to meet a diverse range of requirements including provision of various digital services, network services, catering concessions, facilities management services, guarding services, tractors, veterinary services, specialist scientific services and research, sheriff officer services and various other types of corporate and professional services.
The CGPSS team has improved capability across our partners by delivering procurement training to more than 700 people and attained improved Procurement & Commercial Improvement Programme (PCIP) scores for our partners from previous years.
Our journey was recognised in 2018, when CGPSS received the “Highly Commended” award under the Leadership category at the prestigious GO Awards Scotland event.
“We owe our success to the support from our partners, Steering Board and our dedicated CGPSS team. The team have been the backbone to our success and their commitment, hard work and professional skills have been instrumental in our success over the years. From the team involved in the initial stages of design/ implementation through to the procurement professionals who have delivered the service from April 2014 – and helped grow our service to where we are now.” Denis McFadden, Deputy Director, Procurement Services Division
“CGPSS provides Redress Scotland with an invaluable service. The team brings real expertise in procurement and works with us to support us to fulfil our responsibilities. We’ve really enjoyed working with team members and have particularly valued their contribution to setting up a new public body.” Redress Scotland’s Chief Executive, Joanna McCreadie
