World Innovation and Creativity day 2025

To celebrate World Innovation and Creativity day 2025, we would like to take the opportunity to highlight Scotland Innovates, our National supplier led innovation service which provides an easy to use, secure route to connect with the Scottish Public Sector and NHS Scotland.

The Scotland Innovates website also provides information, guidance and details of support to develop ideas and innovations into products and technologies that may be of use in the provision of public services in Scotland.

Since go-live, Scotland Innovates have received submissions in varied areas such as:

• circular economy
• hydrogen production
• AI Health
• innovations for education

Recent innovation success

The Digital Dermatology Image Capture Referral Pathway has been developed in collaboration with Accelerated National Innovation Adoption (ANIA) and its NHS Scotland partners along with specialist input from Dermatology and Primary Care.

Using a secure mobile phone app, the national Digital Dermatology Pathway will allow primary care clinicians to make use of phone cameras to easily, and safely, take images of a patient’s skin condition at the point of referral to dermatology, with the potential to significantly speed up diagnosis and improve waiting times. Following the initial roll out in the launch Boards, the aim is for the technology to be deployed nationally during Spring 2025. Scotland Innovates newsletter

This month, the first Scotland Innovates newsletter goes live. Some of the highlights from this month’s newsletter include, the development of an upcoming paper to support the circular economy of lighting, a recent Scottish Parliament debate on the Adoption of Innovation in Health and Social Care, and where to find more information on current news and events around innovation in Scotland.
