Child Protection Improvement Programme – Update #3

December 23, 2016 by No Comments | Category Uncategorized

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the development of the Child Protection Improvement Programme so far, through your contributions in our stakeholder groups and engagement in consultation processes. We look forward to building on this as the programme enters its second phase in the new year.

Next Steps

The Child Protection Team have submitted the CPIP report to Ministers including recommendations on each of the areas of work within the Child Protection Improvement Programme. Catherine Dyer, independent chair of the System Review, has also submitted her report to Ministers on her findings.

The Child Protection Improvement Programme will enter into ‘Phase Two’ once Ministers’ reflections on the recommendations within this report have been received after the festive break. A further meeting of the External Advisory Group will take place in the first quarter of 2017 to continue work on taking these recommendations forward.

We anticipate that the Minister for Childcare and Early Years, Mark McDonald will update Parliament in the first quarter of 2017 and both the CPIP report and Catherine Dyer’s report will then be published.

Note of thanks to External Advisory Group

Please find attached below a letter from Mr McDonald to all members of the External Advisory Group thanking the group for their valuable contribution to the programme.
