Funeral Director: Code of Practice – Opportunity to Participate in Focus Groups With Scottish Government

January 13, 2021 by No Comments | Category Uncategorized

In 2019 the Burial and Cremation Team at the Scottish Government carried out a consultation on their draft Funeral Director: Code of Practice. The Report of this consultation is currently being finalised for publication, having been delayed by the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

We welcomed, and deeply appreciated, the responses received to the consultation. The feedback provided in the responses will help inform the Scottish Government’s revisions to the Code.

We are now seeking to get feedback from members of the funeral industry who operate small, independent, or rural funeral director businesses. Additionally, we are seeking views from funeral directors who identify as offering non-traditional approaches to funeral clients. The consultation, and the Government’s revisions to the draft Code, would benefit greatly from hearing the views of more people in these groups.

We are inviting people from the above types of businesses to participate in small group discussions with the Burial and Cremation Team. The discussions will be hosted online and will last approximately one hour.

These discussions will be held in the evening (time to be confirmed) on the following dates:

  • Monday, 1st March 2021
  • Tuesday, 2nd March 2021
  • Wednesday, 3rd March 2021

Additional dates may be added if necessary.

If you are interested in participating in one of these discussions, please email the Burial and Cremation Team at BurialandCremation@gov.scot. In your email, please note if there is a particular date you wish to attend. If you are unable to attend, but wish to provide your views on the draft Code, please email the Burial and Cremation Team.
