COVID-19 : Business ventilation funding

The Business Ventilation Fund is now open to applications and will remain open until 31 March 2022. The Business Ventilation Fund will provide funding to help small and medium sized businesses improve their ventilation, and help reduce the spread of COVID-19. The total funding package is worth £25 million, and was announced by the First Minister in September 2021. Businesses can claim up to £2,500 per eligible premises to recover the costs of carrying out work to improve ventilation and air quality.
The guidance sets out the eligibility criteria, costs which can be claimed back and the application process.
In order to be considered for this funding businesses must meet the eligibility criteria. Eligible sectors that may be able to claim funding for eligible costs to improve their ventilation. It is for a local authority, on behalf of the Scottish Ministers, to determine if a business meets the description and further information may be requested by them, where necessary, to determine eligibility of applications. This could include the funeral sector under community, function and multi-purpose event venues as indoor event spaces that are available for rent or use by members of the community specifically for the purposes of hosting personal events such as funerals. Funeral directors and crematoriums would be eligible to apply to the fund so long as they meet the other eligibility criteria.
