“On the Couch” at the NHSScotland Event 2015

We were extremely lucky to have a series of inspiring guests join us “On the Couch” at our integration hub during the course of the two days; each guest told their own personal story and gave their heartfelt account of their experiences of health and social care integration.

Andrew, aged 39, has Alcohol-Related Brain Damage (ARBD). He joined us to talk about his experience of integrated care from his local health and social care team in Fife which allows him to live as independently as possible. Andrew’s story is a great example of how integration allows service users to take control of the services they receive.

Listen to Andrew’s “On the Couch” story.

Tommy Whitelaw, our “On the Couch” guest on day two of the event, cared for his late mother who had vascular dementia. He gave a very heartfelt account of his time as a carer and shared his passion and drive to raise awareness of dementia to improve the support for carers and families.

Read Tommy’s blog post and listen to his “On the Couch” story.

We were also joined on the couch by Fiona Murphy Associate Director for National Information and Intelligence, Information Services Division who talked to delegates about the data and information sources that are available to support strategic commissioning in Scotland.
