Scotland Excel has announced that a new Leadership and Management programme, for all public sector procurement professionals, will launch on 20 November 2017.
What does it involve?
The year-long programme offers participants the opportunity to earn a Chartered Management Institute (CMI) Diploma. The Diploma follows a modular, blended-learning approach, combining monthly face-to-face workshops with online learning and work-based practice, and assessments.
The Diploma course work is assessed by Scotland Excel and, after completing this qualification, participants can apply for CMI Chartered Manager status through the exemption route. CMI estimate that, on average, a Chartered Manager can add value of £391,443 to their organisation.
The workshops are made up of topics which develop good leadership and management practices including:
- Leadership practice
- Managing ideas and innovation
- Developing and managing networks
- Information based decision making
- Project development and control
- Planning a change process
- Personal development as a manager and leader
The six module programme costs £1,200 per person, while the full seven module programme, with personal development workshop and integrated Chartered Manager assessment, costs £1,640 per person.
All learning is supported through the Scotland Excel Academy’s online platform where participants can download learning materials, upload assignments and communicate with fellow students.
Looking for a tailored course?
Councils can also work with Scotland Excel to implement a tailored course for their organisations. At Inverclyde Council, leadership and management has been combined with specialist modules on social care commissioning to create the Leading and Managing Strategic Commissioning programme for care professionals and third sector partners.
