April 25, 2018 by No Comments | Category General Data Protection Regulation, Procurement news

On 25 May 2018 new and important changes to UK data protection laws will come into effect, known as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The regulation is designed to better protect individuals’ personal information, and has implications for organisations and businesses. After 25 May, organisations will be legally obliged to comply with the regulation, which may mean current data protection processes have to be reviewed – especially if you process personal information.

Need some help?

If you aren’t sure what this means for your business, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) have put together a helpful guide to GDPR, as well as a number of tools to help you prepare. The guide is constantly evolving and quickly allows you to check out what’s new, but it’s also a good idea to follow ICO on Twitter to ensure you don’t miss any important updates in the coming month. We will also be tweeting useful information in the run-up to GDPR, so follow us now if you haven’t already.

Earlier this week we published a policy note to highlight the changes coming into effect and it is important reading when thinking about GDPR and your procurement processes.
