Team – More Powers Implementation Procurement
Category – Procurement Team of the Year – Central Government
Project – Fair Start Scotland
The More Powers Implementation Procurement (MPIP) team is a newly formed one from a diverse range of backgrounds, leading on all procurement and commercial matters including contract management. They had to start performing quickly and effectively to deliver critical services in support of newly devolved powers under the Scotland Act 2016.
Just one example of their success to date is Fair Start Scotland – a large scale, high profile contract the team has helped to deliver with Employability Division. Their approach for this contract is reflective of how they work across their whole portfolio, adopting new and collaborative ways of working to upskill and support colleagues new to procurement.
For this contract in particular they received praise from Scottish Ministers, Employability Division and DWP for a job well done. The contract attracted significant political and public interest, through media coverage and a range of stakeholder groups. It was a complex contracted service which broke new ground in a devolved setting.
The team has built a strong track record of delivery, enhancing Scotland’s reputation for effective and well managed procurements. They routinely go beyond the normal role of procurement to deliver contracts quickly, effectively and in budget while juggling competing priorities across a wide portfolio.
