Scottish Procurement and Property Directorate are delighted to announce that the national Commodities reserved for Supported Businesses framework has recently been extended by a period of 12 months until December of 2021.
Supported Businesses are organisations whose main aim is the social and professional integration of disabled and disadvantaged persons. They provide a wide and growing array of quality goods and services to the public and private sector.
The Framework, which simplifies the process of public sector organisations contracting with Supported Businesses has been in successful operation since December of 2018. Facilitating the award of contracts worth in excess of £2 million a year and being used by a variety of public organisations such as Transport Scotland, Scottish Enterprise, The Scottish Parliament, Social Security Scotland, Local Authorities, Universities and the NHS amongst others.
Framework Suppliers and customers alike enjoy positive experience and outcomes through the use of the Framework.
Dovetail Enterprises are a Supported Business based in Dundee who supply furniture and associated products. A spokesperson for Dovetail said:
“Dovetail were delighted to hear that the Framework was being extended beyond its initial 2 year period. The Framework is an important route to market for us and has made a positive contribution to turnover and increased our profile. It’s also allowed us to develop and foster relationships with customers in the public sector which will continue to during the extension period and beyond. Most importantly the revenue generated for Dovetail through the Supported Business Framework helps to ensure we can continue with our primary goal which is to provide employment and training opportunities for disabled and disadvantaged members of society.”
A spokesperson from the more homes division of the Scottish Government’s Housing and Social Justice Directorate, who used the Framework to award a contract provided the following comments:
“Since October 2019, Framework supplier Scotland’s Bravest Manufacturing Company (SBMC) has been manufacturing site signage for display at council and housing association development sites, marking the future provision of affordable homes across Scotland. Recent feedback from our Area Team Network around the country shows that the quality, delivery and service being provided by SBMC has been to an extremely high standard. Based on our positive experience working with SBMC, we would be happy to recommend using a Supported Business.”
Since the Frameworks establishment, the Framework Suppliers have continued to demonstrate their ability to deliver the kind of goods and services public organisations require, at a great price and crucially of fantastic quality.
As we move towards post-Covid recovery it is more important than ever that we utilise the power of procurement to foster and share growth in communities right across Scotland. The Supported Business Framework is a valuable resource for doing so.
