Third sector social research report published

October 13, 2022 by No Comments | Category Report, survey, Third sector

We have published a new social research report focusing on the views and experiences of third sector organisations and new private sector businesses in relation to Scottish public procurement.

In 2021, we commissioned Blake Stevenson Ltd, an independent social research company, to undertake this research on our behalf. The research involved a combination of surveys, interviews and focus groups with individuals from third sector organisations, from new businesses and from stakeholder organisations representing the interests of the third and private sectors.

This work is a direct follow-on from our 2020 survey of suppliers. It addresses key gaps in our evidence base as, compared with other supplier groups, we know relatively little about what helps and what hinders these organisations in their engagement with public procurement in Scotland. We also know relatively little about why these organisations choose to bid – or choose not to bid – for public contracts.

As well as providing an invaluable insight into the experiences of these two supplier groups, the report also contains a series of considerations for the Scottish public sector. These considerations will help to ensure that the future delivery of public procurement is as inclusive as possible and enables third sector organisations and new private businesses to better-access and compete for public contracts.
