Single-speaker Transcript:

Procurement has played a crucial role in responding to the ongoing impacts of the pandemic and global crises.

Our latest annual report for Scottish Government procurement shows how we’re performing against our Procurement Strategy…

And leading by example – delivering procurement policy and capability across the public sector.

We, the Scottish Government, provide contracts and frameworks which are used across the public sector.

In 2021 to 2022, the spend through these was just over £1.1 billion.

We also provide the free platform Public Contracts Scotland, which was used by over 490 organisations to advertise over 15,000 contract opportunities…

…resulting in over 18,000 suppliers winning contracts.

Of the £420 million that we spend through contracts for Scottish Government bodies, around £174 million went directly to SMEs.

As well as supporting existing jobs, our contracts enabled the creation of 428 brand-new jobs, 48 apprenticeships…

…33 work placements and 45 qualifications.

As we continue our Just Transition journey to a net zero economy, we want procurement to be:

Good for Business and their employees

Good for society

Good for places and communities

And, Open and Connected.

This report showcases the real #PowerOfProcurement
