Microsoft Shape the Future announcement
April 22, 2024 by Emma Hall 1 Comment | Category Procurement news, Scottish Procurement
The Scottish Government has been working with Microsoft to ensure our schools are able to take advantage of the Microsoft Shape the Future education programme. This is designed to provide education customers with a windows platform, which can support learning across primary and secondary schools.
The Shape the Future programme allows qualifying K12 education organisations (which includes private primary and secondary schools in Scotland) to purchase devices with discounted Windows Pro licenses from Microsoft’s partners. Only purchases made for qualifying educational use are eligible.
This provision of the Shape the Future education programme scheme will be facilitated through the Mobile Client Device Framework with HP Inc UK Ltd.

It would be better to use Linux or BSD Unix rather than being tied into a huge corporation whose motives are questionable. Using a free open source system would save a lot of money.
