Reflecting on a successful Commercial Week 2025

Commercial Week ran from 19 to 23 May 2025 and brought together colleagues, partners, and stakeholders from across the Scottish Procurement and Property Directorate, Scottish Government, and wider public sector in Scotland, to share knowledge, celebrate innovation and commitment to delivering better outcomes for the people of Scotland through commercial excellence. The week highlights the critical role that commercial professionals play in supporting the ambitions of a fairer, greener, and more prosperous Scotland.

Over 1,000 people attended 26 events from 82 public sector bodies. These events included webinars, workshops, and seminars on a broad range of commercial skills and awareness including procurement skills, contract and supplier management, the Construction Client Guide, value for money, digital commercial services, grants, project delivery and risk management.

Over 1,200 people accessed our eLearning resources during the week, which are designed to help improve your commercial capability and it was great to hear some positive feedback on our sessions:

• Contract and Supplier Management: “Very knowledgeable presenters and the right level of detail”
• Construction Client Guide: “Very useful to get an update on the new Client Guide and how it differs from the old Procurement Construction Manual. Thank you for a really good session.”
• Value for Money: “Perfect bite size session. Packed with points to ponder.”
• Risk Management: “I found this session very helpful.  I am now looking to introduce a Commercial Risk Register within our team and am now confident I can do this with the various tips and resources.  Thank you so much!”
• Business Cases: “So interesting to hear from some external colleagues with huge experience.”
• Specification Writing: “Good overview of specification writing giving lots of food for thought.”
