Scottish Apprenticeship Week – a career in procurement

March 4, 2026 by No Comments | Category Modern Apprenticeships, Scottish Procurement

It’s Scottish Apprenticeship Week and we are celebrating the contribution of apprentices to Scottish Procurement’s past, current and future success.

The Procurement People of Tomorrow programme (PPoT) has been making procurement a career of choice over the last 14 years. During that time over 500 Modern Apprentices in Procurement and Supply Chain have joined the profession across Scotland in both the public and private sector.

In the Scottish Government alone, 88 apprentices, graduates and interns have kick-started their career and built their skills within government procurement. This includes our most recent cohort of four Modern Apprentices joining the Scottish Procurement and Property Directorate in January 2026.

Ben, Estela, Flora and Strachan are working in teams responsible for procurement and business management, while undertaking their Modern Apprenticeships over the next two years.

“The Procurement Assistant role caught my eye as it offers practical experience alongside the chance to gain an SVQ3 qualification. I was especially interested in the structured career progression and the supportive environment for learning and development. This really aligns with my goal of continuing to grow professionally while playing a meaningful role in the service of Scotland.”- Estela Silva Franca Rebelato, Modern Apprentice

“I am delighted to see our latest group of apprentices beginning their procurement careers. They follow in the footsteps of our previous PPoT successes such as Angus Mackenzie, who is now a Senior Procurement Specialist in our Procurement Services Division.” – Gregor Hutton, Procurement Capability Portfolio Manager
