Campbeltown Economic Summit

An economic forum is being held in Campbeltown to explore development opportunities following the announcement of possible redundancies at two of the town’s biggest employers.

Ministers will meet with local councillors, enterprise agencies, trades unions and local employers to identify opportunities to regenerate the local economy.

Rural Economy Secretary Fergus Ewing said:

“The devastating news about redundancies at CS Wind UK and the Campbeltown Creamery has the potential to impact hundreds of families in the area. Those two employers provide a substantial portion of skilled jobs in the region, and are a vital part of the local economy.

“In response, the Scottish Government has called an emergency economic summit, with the aim to get as many organisations and people with influence as possible to work together to come up with potential solutions.

“In the meantime we will continue to work with CS Wind UK to do all we can to support the company to secure future work for the site.”
