Scotland’s Equality Evidence Strategy 2023-2025 – Consultation and Stakeholder Engagement Events

January 31, 2023 by No Comments | Category Public Sector, Social Justice

Following a busy autumn, the Scottish Government’s Equality Analysis team would like to update on progress towards the development of Scotland’s new Equality Evidence Strategy.

Equality Analysts have been engaging with a range of stakeholders over the past few months to ensure that the strategy reflects a range of perspectives. The publication of the strategy will mark the conclusion of the first phase of our Equality Data Improvement Programme (EDIP).

Our consultation on a draft plan to strengthen the equality evidence base, which will form the basis of the new strategy, closed on 7 October 2022. You can find out more about the purpose of our consultation and the questions it asked from our previous blog. The consultation was open for 14 weeks, and we received 116 responses.

To promote and supplement the consultation the team also ran a series of stakeholder engagement events in August and September 2022. There were around 200 attendees across the events from a number of public sector and equality advocacy organisations.

Following a competitive tendering process, we appointed a research consultancy, Why Research, to carry out an independent analysis of the consultation responses and written outputs from the events. Why Research are underway with the analysis, which will inform the development of the Equality Evidence Strategy, and will be published alongside the strategy in the spring.

Analysts in all analytical areas across the Scottish Government and NRS are currently reviewing their draft actions and considering how actions could be revised and supplemented based on the feedback received from consultation respondents, taking into account available resources and user needs.
