Using Outside Speakers At Crematoriums

October 19, 2020 by No Comments | Category Cremation authorities, Funeral directors, Funeral services

Cremation authorities are respectfully asked to discontinue using speakers outside at crematoriums for all funerals. Funeral services are restricted to a maximum of 20 people attending a funeral service to protect public health. The use of speakers to broadcast a funeral service can mean others above the maximum number are more likely to gather together outside the service room.

Even where service rooms cannot accommodate the maximum of 20 people and still safely observe the 2 metre physical distancing rule between households, cremation authorities are requested to not use speakers.

We are doing all we can to slow an increase in infection rates. Discouraging people from gathering together wherever possible can contribute to that. This request is part of that wider message.

We will be updating our guidance to include this position in due course.
