Update on work
The consultation and associated events in relation to the Planning Issues and Options Consultation Paper (PIOP) and the draft Environmental Report (ER) produced a good response. The Working Group have been collating and analysing the outputs of all the consultation responses and events and this will result in two documents as outlined below:
Consultation Analysis – now completed
The Working Group have completed the Consultation Analysis and this will be available on the Scottish Government consultations website and also the Pentland Firth and Orkney Waters website
http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Topics/marine/marineenergy/wave/rlg/pentlandorkney.
This document contains an analysis of all the consultation opportunities that took place over the summer of 2013. These include the written responses to the PIOP the draft ER and the combined Screening and Scoping Report and, in collaboration with ICIT Heriot Watt University, summaries of the workshops and drop in sessions held in Kirkwall and Thurso.
Consultation Report – ongoing
Now that the Consultation Analysis has been completed work is ongoing to prepare a Consultation Report, which will explain the next stage of drafting the pilot Marine Spatial Plan, taking your comments into account. It was originally intended that this document would be published towards the end of 2013. However, in order to take account of the fact that the Working Group is made up of Scottish Government and local Councils and each has different requirements for how this stage should be achieved it is likely that the document is ready towards the end of March 2014.
Drafting the Pilot Marine Spatial Plan
The information from all the consultation events will be used to inform and develop the drafting of the pilot Pentland Firth and Orkney Waters Marine Spatial Plan. The current estimate is that the draft Plan will be out to a formal 12 week consultation in Summer 2014.
