You may have read in the news today that the Scottish Land Commission have published a report on the concentration of land ownership in Scotland.
The report was commissioned by the Scottish Government, with the intention of helping to inform the discussion around what impact high concentrations of ownership in the hands of individuals or organisations can have on that land, and on local communities.
We provided the following comment in response to news coverage.
A Scottish government spokesperson said: “We welcome the SLC’s report and will be working closely with the commission and stakeholders to consider the recommendations in the coming months.
“We expect that the report will inform how we address long-standing issues caused by the concentration of land power in rural Scotland, to the benefit of local communities.”
