Scottish Government Workforce Information

Information on the number of Scottish Government workers, staff sickness rates, and staff diversity for the last five years, up to March 2017, has been published.

There has been a small increase in directly employed staff from March 2016 (5,152 FTE) to March 2017 (5,214 FTE).

Also the number of contingent (non-directly employed) workers has decreased by 1 per cent to 1,044 (March 2017).

Staff sickness rates at the end of March 2017 increased slightly to 7.4 average working days lost (AWDL) per staff year and 3.3 per cent of working days lost (7.2 and 3.2 respectively March 2016).

Finally, the proportions of directly employed staff providing diversity information on ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation and religion or belief have increased since the same period last year.
