Scottish Government Workforce Information

The latest update to the Scottish Government Workforce Information statistics have been published. This publication contains information on the numbers of workers, staff sickness rates, and the diversity of staff over the past seven years.
At the end of March 2019, there were 6,402 FTE directly employed staff, an increase from last year’s figure of 5,648.
The number of contingent (non-directly employed) workers, increased from 1,249 at the end of March 2018, to 1,344 at the end of March 2019, an 8 per cent increase.
The staff sickness level was 7.6 average working days lost (AWDL) per staff year in the 12 month period ending March 2019 (3.4 per cent of working days were lost). This is slightly lower than for the same period last year.
The proportions of directly employed staff providing diversity information on sexual orientation, religion or belief and disability have all increased since the same period last year.
