National Care Service Forum 2022 – working together

September 26, 2022 by No Comments | Category National Care Service

There is just one week to go until our first ever National Care Service Forum on 3 October at Perth Concert Hall.

This event will bring a wide range of people with an interest in community health and social care together to discuss ideas and ambitions for the National Care Service. There’s still space for you to join online.

We are especially keen for people with lived experience of using and working in community health and social care to participate. They are the people best placed to know what we need to do to improve social care in Scotland. It is important that people with lived experience are at the heart of the development of the National Care Service and that we are transparent about the decisions that are being made.

That is why we are holding this Forum and will run it annually as the National Care Service (NCS) develops.

 2022 Forum Programme

At our 2022 NCS Forum, we will think together about how we can all work together, learning from people with lived experience of community health and social care to shape how we want the National Care Service to look.

We will discuss what we want the NCS to deliver and how we can make sure we are listening to people and addressing their needs now.

We also want to hear people’s thoughts on the way we have approached developing the NCS so far. We will speak about how we are ensuring lived experience is at the heart of decision making and show how we are putting the human rights-based approach into practice.

We are really excited to be welcoming activist, artist and filmmaker Kiana Kalantar-Hormozi to address the Forum, alongside the Cabinet Secretary for Health, Humza Yousaf MSP, the Minister for Mental Wellbeing and Social Care, Kevin Stewart MSP, and the Minister for Drugs Policy, Angela Constance MSP.

If you would like to come along and share your experience and ideas for the National Care Service, there are still some online tickets available. To register your place, please click here: National Care Service Forum online webinar Tickets, Mon 3 Oct 2022 at 11:00 | Eventbrite

If you are unable to attend this event, a recording will be made available soon after and keep an eye on the hashtag #NCSForum22 on Twitter as we’ll be keeping the conversation going online too.

Our commitment to working together with people with experience of using and working in community health and social care is ongoing. There will be many more opportunities for you to influence the National Care Service as it develops. We have just launched our Lived Experience Experts Panels and are looking for volunteers, find out more information here: Getting involved in designing the National Care Service (NCS) – gov.scot (www.gov.scot)
