Torry beach clean

Volunteers from Marine Scotland, the Marine Conservation Society, Dolphinwatch  other local colleagues are continuing with the regular beach cleaning near the Marine Laboratory in Aberdeen. Most recently, they were joined by local dog-walkers, so everyone seems to be joining in.

So far the total clean up effort, which has included more that 80 volunteers and 235 hours of volunteer time, has recovered:

  • 3,309 bottles and cans, that were sent for recycling
  • 171 full bin-bags of waste total

Of the rubbish collected to date, there have been a few more unusual items – shopping trolley, bicycle racks and some very large pieces of metal.

The photograph on the right shows volunteers collecting rubbish using some new equipment that was donated – hoops, gloves and sanitiser.
