Scotland’s International Marine Conference
Scotland is leading the way in tackling marine litter, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon told international delegates attending Scotland’s International Marine Conference in Glasgow this week.
The First Minister announced a £175,200 campaign promoting the use of re-usable sanitary products to reduce the more than 100 billion pieces of sanitary waste disposed of every year.
Deposit Return Scheme
Speaking at the International Marine Conference, Environment Secretary Roseanna Cunningham announced that the Scottish Goverment deposit return scheme consultation analysis report has been published.
BIC symposium
Environment and Climate Change Secretary Roseanna Cunningham chaired the British-Irish Council press conference in Glasgow to discuss cross-administration agreements made on tackling marine litter.
Young Farmer Climate Change Champions
Four young farmers and crofters have been appointed to champion a cultural and behavioural shift towards low-carbon, environmentally sustainable farming in Scotland.
Rural Affairs Minister Mairi Gougeon said:
“We want farmers and crofters to move towards a more profitable, low-carbon, environmentally sustainable future, adapting to the changing climate and securing business viability for future generations.”
