Welcome to our new European Structural and Investment Funds blog. We have lots going on however much of what goes on doesn’t reach you, our audience.

The European Structural and Investment Funds blog will become the main source of information where you will find news of events or announcements taking place. You will also find regular updates and any other relative items in relation to European Funding.

So what have you missed this year?

We started the new year with a new change as David Anderson took up post as Head of the Division. David joined the Structural Funds team less than a year ago to head up Operations. He comes from a background in major transport policy and project delivery. He’s a Chartered Engineer and has even been a beneficiary of European Funding for projects in the past!

David’s focus was to close the 2007-2013 programmes which has successfully been achieved. Lessons learned from those programmes will be applied to the new programmes. He will continue to engage directly with Lead Partners and stakeholders throughout the duration of the 2014-2020 programmes.

The First Minister announced £29 million of funding. This includes £12 million from the European Social Fund for community and third sector projects to tackle poverty and deprivation to make a positive impact on people’s lives and the community. To read more on this announcement see the news release.
