Torry Battery

The clean-up in Torry continues with more and more people getting involved and community interest growing.

Colleagues at the James Hutton Institute, under the watchful eye of Rose Towney, organised a clean-up on the 29th of May around Torry Battery and the shore. In total:

  • 17 people were collecting over 5 hours (85 hours or 5,100 minutes) and the total number of rubbish bags filled was 45.

And the volunteer effort on 11th June, organised by Marie Scotland Science member Danny Pendrey, resulted in:

  • Person effort: 90 minutes collecting
  • Number of bin bags filled: 2
  • Number of bottles and cans recycled: 115

The grand totals so far are:

  • Person Effort: 11,795 minutes, or 197 hours, with over 70 volunteers
  • Number of bin bags filled: 155
  • Number of bottles and cans recycled: 2,958
