Marine Scotland Staff Clean Up: 19 February 2016
February 24, 2016 by Marine Directorate Communications No Comments | Category Compliance, Marine Directorate general, Marine Directorate Science, Marine Litter, Marine News from other Organisations
Some plucky colleagues from the Marine Laboratory donned their waterproofs last Friday, and joined forces with Aberdeen City Council companions, for a very wet and windy litter-pick. The area inside Torry battery, the shore and the embankment below, where lots of juice bottles and fireworks were found, were all cleared of waste. A truly great effort by all; considering the elements they were up against!
So the updated statistics for all the clean-ups to date are:
- Over 90 volunteers have participated
- Bottles and cans recycled total = 4,884
- Full bin-bags of waste total = 208
- Person effort, in minutes, collecting = 16,030 (267 hrs).
