Marine Scotland Staff Clean Up: 19 February 2016

Some plucky colleagues from the Marine Laboratory donned their waterproofs last Friday, and joined forces with Aberdeen City Council companions, for a very wet and windy litter-pick. The area inside Torry battery, the shore and the embankment below, where lots of juice bottles and fireworks were found, were all cleared of waste.  A truly great effort by all; considering the elements they were up against!

So the updated statistics for all the clean-ups to date are:

  • Over 90 volunteers have participated
  • Bottles and cans recycled total = 4,884
  • Full bin-bags of waste total = 208
  • Person effort, in minutes, collecting = 16,030 (267 hrs).
