The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) promotes and enforces the highest professional qualifications and standards in the development and management of land, real estate, construction and infrastructure.
We’re delighted that RICS are supporting an important member-led event as part of International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month in Scotland! On 28 March 2022 – 13:00pm the event will focus on Women in the Built Environment: Diversity, Inclusion, and Breaking Barriers.
Speakers include inspirational women such as our own Chief Surveyor and Head of Property and Construction, Scottish Government- Morag Angus FRICS.
As well as:
- Sandra Cummings MRICS, Director, Faithful+Gould and Member of the RICS Scotland Board;
- Brenda Jones FRICS, Developments Manager, Stornoway Port Authority and Scotland Board Member, the Association of Women in Property; and
- Eilidh Levein, Graduate Surveyor, Savills.
Open to all members, it will give attendees the opportunity to hear from, and ask questions of, high profile members and colleagues on how to support women in the profession, and drive diversity and inclusion across the industry. Discussion will focus on the following themes:
- Overcoming barriers to career progression;
- Making flexible working work;
- Meeting the needs of new entrants; and
- Creating an inclusive workplace.
Our Chief Surveyor and Head of Property and Construction, Morag Angus had this to say about taking part: “At the broadest level, bringing more women into surveying increases diversity and that improves creativity, gives fairer opportunities and a more prosperous society. Women can have fascinating, flexible and satisfying careers in property and construction and it’s up to those of us who have already progressed our careers here to try and bring more women into the field”
