May 17, 2022 by No Comments | Category Best practice, Procurement news, Scotland Excel, Training

Commercial Awareness week 2022 runs from May 23-27.  To explore the benefits of thinking commercially in all we do across the public sector. We are running internal and external events to increase the understanding and awareness around topics such as:

  • specification writing
  • value for money
  • sustainable public procurement

Our commercial decisions affect how we deliver policies and services to the public, and how we can obtain better outcomes for our efforts and resources. Thinking and acting commercially is a key part of improving how we serve the people of Scotland.

Specification Writing Course

On Thursday May 26 the Scotland Excel Academy is running an open course on Specification Writing and Development with places available to book at a per-place cost.
Attendees are welcome from across the public sector in Scotland.
Please email academy@scotland.excel.org.uk for more information on the training available.

Building skills and networks

The aim of Commercial Week is to build commercial skills but also to open doors to a network of people you can talk with to improve your work. Working together collaboratively across professions and organisations can strength our commercial competence.

To assess your skills you can use the Procurement Development Framework. and our Procurement and Commercial Training Framework is open to Scottish public sector organisations.

You can join the Professional Practice and Development Knowledge Hub to network with other procurement professionals in Scotland.
