Building youth skills in procurement

Today (15 July) is World Youth Skills Day!

We’re celebrating by hearing from a student on their positive experience of using our new Procurement People of Tomorrow (PPoT) ‘Placement Pack’.

Iman Hanif is a Career Ready student on a summer placement with our Property team

Iman Hanif is a Career Ready student on a summer placement with our Property and Construction Division. On using the Placement Pack, Iman said:

“The step by step guide in the Placement Pack made it really easy to follow. The chance to do some personal research on supply chains gave me greater exposure to nuances I may not have seen in a standard book.”

“By researching Apple’s supply chain, I was able to see the reality of procurement in action. I then gathered all of my research and pulled it together in a presentation, building on my communication skills.”

Iman is just one student benefitting from the new skills and hands-on work experience provided by the placement pack. The pack is freely available to all public, private and third-sector procurement functions in Scotland.

We encourage any procurement functions to take our pack and use it to host placements and help develop our procurement people of tomorrow.
