Supporting material through

March 29, 2015 by No Comments | Category Digital Public Services,

This is a post by Calum Shepherd, our Head of Digital Strategy.

We’re excited to mark the availability of, which went live last week. It’s our first step towards putting live resources for better digital services.

The new resources area has two main aims:

  • to help you deliver clear content when publishing on
  • to help you, as a service provider, in building future transactional services that will appear on

What resources are available?

It’s providing a home just now to the service standard for transactional services, which is an expanded version of the Digital by Default Service Standard. It’s unfinished and we are missing some pretty fundamental criteria like user needs – but it’s a first run.

An early steer on content style based on early GOV.UK material. Changes mainly relate to information about content formats, analytics and SEO. We’re watching this closely, as the GOV.UK material is evolving at a rapid rate and we may just chose to maintain nuances, as opposed to a version in full.

There is also an early look at our process for recommending and endorsing technical standards for use across the Scottish public sector. This is a wider piece of work that will touch a lot more people, carried out in conjunction with the wider digital directorate of Scottish Government.

Will these resources change over time?

It’s also important to remember that this is a first go at making material available. So, all resources are currently considered as drafts and are highly likely to change.

Feedback as always is welcome.
